The mobile internet and .mobi

The .mobi top level domain hinders rather than helps the development of the mobile and handheld internet. The combination of web standards, css media types are the correct way forward. We will come to expect that the web sites we visit with our regular browsers will work equally as well when accessed from our mobile devices. It’s not realistic to expect visitors to know or to guess that a .mobi alternative site exists. Neither is it sensible to segregate part of the internet based on device type.
